how can I write in Arabic? I do have the font and be able to do so in several
Mac applications but not in Word.

Word for Mac does not support RTL script properly, so it is not possible to
write Arabic or Hebrew in it. Some Mac word processors allow you to do this
very easily; check out Mellel or Nisus Writer Pro, to name but two of them.
TextEdit, which is part of the operating system, also supports RTL script.
